From what I have read, a lot of QR codes are too difficult for older smart phones (like mine) to read. I couldn't get a link on the first one, but I did on the second one. I do think they're a good idea, but the early adopters (like you) will be alone for a while longer before everyone else catches up.
I have a QR code (simple URL) for me going to LinkedIn, which I want to have on future business cards; and, I also made one for me on Facebook (just for fun). I like that Marketing is using them on the books, but I think they need to be the simple URL's and going to a targeted landing page (with easy smart-phone & tablet visibility) instead of just our home page.
As someone who does not have a smart phone, and probably will not have one for awhile, I can't deciede if I'm missing out or not. I do like the idea of it being used on business cards and at gravesites/memorials. Things that might be less easily googled but still very interesting to read about a person, time or place.
My iPhone 4 read both of these, and those on the links provided, perfectly and quickly. Just for fun I Googled Images to see how well it worked on others. Most it did great, but there were a few with more dense information that it couldn't read. But that's just a matter of time before the technology is improved. This will be a great way of downloading contact and other info into my phone quickly and with much more accuracy. Love it!
